Cinderella lives with her step-mother, who treats her like a servant in her own home. She is helping her family prepare for the Spring Ball where it is rumored that the prince will choose his bride. One evening, while performing her usual chores, Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother appears before her. With a wave of her wand, the Godmother transforms Cinderella from a simple girl to one worthy of being a princess. Will Cinderella finally escape the oppression and mistreatment of her family?
Originally created by renowned Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev, this production has been shortened and serves as an introduction for young children to the world of ballet and theater. Students from the second year of the English National Ballet School will take on the lead roles of the production. It also includes narration, ensuring that the younger audience can easily follow the plot while appreciating the performances on stage. Ruth Brill, the Artistic Director of the London Children’s Ballet in charge of the choreography, and it promises to enthrall the little ones.
