The story

Sophocles' original Oedipus Rex, a cornerstone of Greek tragedy, tells the story of a king unwittingly fated to kill his father and marry his mother. Robert Icke's production opens on a tense election night, with polls predicting a landslide victory. But behind every powerful man is a woman, and Jocasta is no exception. The cast, designers, director, writer and everyone else involved. This was a beautiful production. Edge of my seat the entire time. I'm an old lady who's seen thousands of plays on and off Broadway and a few in London and this was the greatest evening at the theater ever. Yay to all the people who made it happen. I'm also an actor and I bow down to all the actors in this play. Holy moly, I'm still thinking about it.

Clever reinterpretation of a classic without giving away the punch line till the end. Also great acting and side plots distract one from what in the end should have been the obvious only conclusion.
