  • A community in Salem, Massachusetts, is on the verge of pandemonium. Cries of witchcraft go out of control when a group of young women realise the strength of their combined voice, and a horrifying trial starts. This year's staging of The Crucible introduces paranoia and widespread hysteria at the Gielgud Theatre. Enjoy the iconic drama by Arthur Miller, straight from the National Theatre, where the truth is put on trial. The unsettling play by Arthur Miller depicts a civilization on the verge of collapse as private grudges turn into widespread witch hunts. Since its initial release in 1953, it has undergone numerous adaptations and reruns, and it is still incredibly relevant today. The intense and visceral performance, directed by Lyndsey Turner (Top Girls, Under Milk Wood), which debuted at the Olivier Theatre in 2022 is now moving to the West End for a brief run. The Story

His wife, falsely accused of sorcery, stands trial alongside others, and the community's paranoia escalates to new heights but he refuses to succumb to fear and musters the courage to fight for his loved ones and his own life. The Crucible is a powerful exploration of the human psyche, revealing the lengths people will go to protect their own interests and beliefs. I attended the show with my 17yr old granddaughter during our visit to London. We booked the tkts that day. When we got to the theater I requested hearing devices. They gave them to me and also changed our seat location which was wonderful. It was a wonderful experience.

Wonderful show, acted just phenomenally. Arthur Miller's absolute best work (afaik). Should be must see for everyone. Just top notch take down of the second red scare and ongoing social problems in America w/ the perpetual theocrats.
