Medieval island fortress
The tour begins with an introduction to the history and geography of Mont Saint-Michel, given by a knowledgeable guide. You'll hear about the tides, the abbey’s history, and how the island has evolved over time. You'll have the chance to take in panoramic views of Mont Saint-Michel from various vantage points before crossing the causeway to the island.
Mont Saint Michel Abbey
During your visit, enjoy the freedom to have lunch on your own (ranging from €15-€40). After arriving at the stunning Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey, you will have the opportunity to take a guided tour of this iconic structure. This Benedictine abbey, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture devoted to the Archangel Saint Michael, is exceptionally beautiful, as is its magnificent cloister, which exudes a serene aura. Its newly remodeled central garden is illuminated by an amazing amount of light, which contrasts with its dark hallways. As your guide leads you around the abbey's three flights of chambers, learn about the monks' daily routines and the building's history. You will see the enormous refectory where the monks shared their meals, explore the cellar that held the food, and take in the magnificent fireplaces in the guest rooms.
