Your Experience
Nicknamed “The Stage of the World” owing to its artistic and cultural heritage, this Salzburg tour will acquaint you with all of the city’s prominent landmarks. Your experience will start at the beautiful and historic Mirabell Palace. Built by Archbishop Wolf Dietrich in 1606, the Palace now hosts the city government. Next, you will visit Mozarteum, one of the top universities in Salzburg, specializing in music, drama, and fine arts. Other stops on the itinerary include the historic Salzburg Marionette Theatre, the State Theatre, and of course, Mozart’s Residence at Makartplatz. The market square is also the home of the Church of the Holy Trinity, a stunning Baroque masterpiece from the architect Fischer von Erlach.
You will make a short stop at the 17th century Hellbrunn Palace when you cross the Salzach River and go past the courthouse. Built by the court architect Santino Solari, it was a favored weekend destination for prince archbishops. As you make your way back to the city center, you will see the picturesque Frohnburg Palace and the Nonnberg Abbey, which is the oldest existing convent in the German-speaking world. The tour will end at Mozartplatz, before which you will get to see more landmarks such as the Festival Halls, the Horse Pond, and St. Blasius Church.
