A city frozen in time
It was just an ordinary day in Pompeii. The birds were chirping, the city was bustling, and the children were laughing. That was until Mount Vesuvius erupted, covering the entire city with volcanic ash – lost to the ages, preserved until the moment disaster struck. Your guided tour begins at the entrance of the Pompeii Ruins. Skip the wait and meet your guide directly to begin your Ancient Roman odyssey. A battleground of warriors, enter the Amphitheatre and admire the painted posters depicting the gladiatorial history of the Romans. Step into the Stabian baths and catch a glimpse of the impressive domed ceiling of the frigidarium. A site of intrigue, visit the Villa of Mysteries to gaze upon the beautiful frescoes depicting an initiation ritual of an enigmatic Greco-Roman cult. Enter a world of pleasure at the Lupanar – a brothel renowned for its erotic frescoes and ancient graffiti.
The Roman dream
Once you have completed your journey in Pompeii, hop on to a train to Torre Annunziata - the site of Oplontis. Here, you will visit the iconic seaside “Villa Poppaea”. This villa belonged to Emperor Nero’s second wife, Sabina Poppaea, and was regarded as one of the most luxurious residences of its time. The highlights of this house include decorated walls, a swimming pool, a variety of gardens that used to house apple and lemon trees, and to top it all off – a collection of 40 impressive marble sculptures. Even in the 21st century, this villa is still one of the finest places to live!
