Your Experience
Your Experience
Meet your guide and travel past beautiful Ribatejo farmlands to the sacred city of Fátima. Christen your experience with a visit to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fátima, one of the world’s largest Catholic pilgrimage sites. Here, in 1917, the Virgin Mary was said to have appeared here to three shepherd children and given them three prophecies that changed the world.
At the entrance of the Sanctuary, you will see a fragment of the Berlin Wall, that was donated by a Portuguese immigrant in Germany at the time of the fall of the Iron Curtain. Walk around and see the holm oak where Our Lady appeared to the three children. Attend a mass at the Chapel of Apparitions, built on the site of these visions. Break for lunch soon after, and make sure to ask your guide for the best places to eat in the vicinity. Enjoy a hearty meal and head to Valinhos, where the three children saw the Angel of Portugal while they were herding their flocks. End your tour with a visit to Hungarian Calvary where you can pay your respects to Sister Lucia’s House (entrance included). She was one of the children that Our Lady appeared to.
