An amphitheater that was commissioned by the Roman Empire back in the 1st century AD, the Arena di Verona (Verona Arena) is one of the best-preserved sites from the era. What’s more, the arena continues to serve as a space for large-scale opera performances! With a capacity of about 15,000 viewers, this architectural marvel boasts incredible acoustics, making it a great destination for classical and contemporary musicians alike.

As you take your seat on one of the arena’s stone steps, the sheer vibrancy of the place becomes apparent. It is fascinating to imagine a cheering crowd of Romans occupying the massive seating area nearly 2000 years ago! If there are a few moments to spare before the start of the opera, your guide will point out all the interesting historical aspects of the amphitheater. Enjoy a 3 hour-long presentation of classical opera before heading back to the bus to be dropped off at your selected location.
