Did you know?

Osaka Castle's main tower is not its original structure; it was meticulously reconstructed in 1931 after being destroyed by lightning in 1665 and suffering damage over the centuries.

The castle is home to a time capsule, buried in 1970 to commemorate the Expo '70 World Fair in Osaka, intended to be opened 5,000 years later.

Inside Osaka Castle, there's a hidden floor not visible from the outside, designed for defense and as a lookout, making the castle even more formidable than it appears.

The gold leaf decorations on the castle, particularly the golden shachi (mythical dolphin-like creatures) on the roof, were not just for aesthetics but also served to intimidate attackers and symbolize wealth and power.

Despite its ancient appearance, Osaka Castle features modern amenities like elevators inside the main tower, a blend of traditional beauty and contemporary convenience uncommon in historic sites.

Why visit Osaka Castle?

Behold the architectural masterpiece that is Osaka Castle. With its imposing stone walls, multi-storied main tower, and golden ornaments, the castle is a stunning example of traditional Japanese castle design.

With immersive exhibits and artifacts, visitors gain insight into Japan's feudal era. Seasonal events and traditional performances also offer a glimpse into Japan's rich cultural tapestry.

Panoramic city views

Great view out if the building! The city looks endless, despite how high your looking at it. It is also safe for people with fear of heights as there is plenty of space, so you don't feel like "standing on the edge". I definitely recommend it!

Although we weren't able to enjoy the Umeda Sky Building or the River Cruise, I highly recommend this pass. The castle was amazing, and the unlimited metro pass was worth the price. After we toured the castle, we enjoyed lunch at the Mizara Figure Museum. We used our unlimited Metro passes to enjoy the Shibuya nightlife. I would suggest this pass to anyone.
