Pro tips to help you make a pick
Make sure to book your tickets in advance, especially if you're visiting during the busy months from March to October. This will help you secure your spot and skip the long lines. If you couldn't book tickets online in advance for some reason, try to get there close to opening time to join an early tour with shorter wait times.
You'll need a valid ID like a passport or national identity card to get entry into the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest.
Guided tours usually take about an hour to an hour and a half. But factor in extra time for security checks and waiting, especially if you're visiting during peak times.
Eating, alcohol consumption, and smoking are not allowed inside the Palace of Parliament building. But you can bring non-alcoholic drinks in plastic or glass bottles.
Everyone has to pass through a security check before entering the parliament building. This will include all your belongings as well.
For safety reasons, it's essential to stick to the designated route and not wander off exploring the Palace on your own.
While there's no strict dress code, it's a good idea to dress respectfully. Leave the beachwear and tank tops behind and opt for something more appropriate.
If you're planning on snapping some professional shots inside the Bucharest Parliament building, you will have to pay an extra fee.

About Palace of Parliament
Built during the Communist era under the dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu, the Palace of Parliament Bucharest, also known as the People's House, is a government building and a symbol of Romania's struggle under the communist regime. Its sheer scale and opulence make it a must-visit attraction for tourists interested in history, architecture, and politics.
The Palace of Parliament Bucharest has several names that mirror its rich history and political importance. Locals often refer to it as the "People's House Bucharest" or "People's Palace Bucharest," while other titles like the "Palace of the People," "House of the Republic," "Romanian Parliament," and "The Ceausescu Palace" are also used.
The Palace of Parliament serves a variety of purposes, housing not only the Romanian Parliament but also museums and conference centers. It's home to the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate and even offers exhibition spaces. Beneath its many floors, you'll find nuclear bunkers and hidden tunnels, adding to its intrigue.
The Palace's construction stirred a lot of controversy, displacing thousands of residents and sparking widespread dissatisfaction. Entire neighborhoods were razed overnight, forcing over 40,000 people out of their homes and demolishing 9,000 houses, as well as historic landmarks and churches.
Maintaining the massive Palace of Parliament building comes at a hefty price, with an annual upkeep cost exceeding 6 million euros. This covers preservation efforts to safeguard the building's structure and preserve its opulent interiors.
About 100,000 workers were involved in building the People's Palace in Bucharest, with a whopping 20,000 working round the clock in three shifts. Sadly, quite a few lost their lives in accidents on the job.
