Royal Palace of Naples
Located on the eastern side of the Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, also known as Palazzo Reale, is dubbed Naples' very own Versailles. Home to a rich collection of paintings, frescoes, tapestries, chandeliers, and furniture from the 17th to the 19th centuries, this palace-turned-museum offers a rare glimpse into the city’s glorious past. With skip-the-line access, admire the majestic facade of the palace, visit the Historical Apartment, tour the belvedere courtyard and the hanging gardens which offer a wonderful view of the Gulf of Naples and Vesuvius, discover over two million texts in the National Library dedicated to Victor Emmanuel III of Savoy, and explore the famous Throne Room, Palatine Chapel, Hall of Hercules, and Hall of the Ambassadors.
Villa Pignatelli
Surrounded by a lush green garden, just off the beaten path near the Riviera di Chiaia, the elegant nineteenth-century mansion of Villa Pignatelli is a harmonious blend of Neapolitan and Neoclassical architecture. One of the few examples of house-museums in Naples, the villa has changed ownership several times, from Karl Meyer von Rothschild to the Duke of Monteleone. You'll find sculptures, paintings, rich majolica tiles, gilt bronze furnishings, artworks, and many other hidden gems. And the best part? You can skip the line and explore it all!
