A journey through art and technology
At Phoenix des Lumières, step into Dortmund's historic steel mill, the Phoenixhalle, where art meets technology. Your timed entry ticket ensures a relaxed viewing experience. Start by exploring the artworks at the Dalí – Gaudí – 3 Movements exhibit. Watch the masterpieces of these iconic artists come to life through innovative, digital presentations, and imagine walking through their worlds.
Dalí: The Endless Enigma
Salvador Dalí's work is as unique as his iconic twirled mustache and has made a mark in the contemporary art world. One of his famous pieces The Persistence of Memory aka Melting Clocks is a result of his forced hallucinations, caused by eating camembert cheese. Amusing, right?
Antoni Gaudí: Architecture of Fantasy
A renowned architect of his time, Gaudi is said to have been a source of inspiration for Salvador Dalí. His architecture is unique as there is a lot of light and space play, colored glass, mosaic, and patterns, making it a limitless space for imagination. This exhibit is an ode to his contribution as a modernist architect, constructing buildings that are now UNESCO World Heritage sites.
3 Movements
Get to see this temporary, 6-minute exhibition created by the Istanbul-based art, design, and technology studio Nohlab. The venue has a lot of abstract portrayals and visitors can experience the movements of the bodies in time and space. Catch the rhythmic interpretation of 3 dancers displaying different forms of dance during this short exhibition.
