Nasz pierwszy przewodnik, Arda, który oprowadził nas po dwóch pierwszych miejscach, był fantastyczny. Naprawdę kompetentny i szedł we właściwym tempie. Jednak nasz drugi przewodnik, Martin, pospieszył z wyjaśnieniami przy wejściu do pałacu Topkapi, a następnie użył swoich QR, aby zeskanować nas do haremu i wyszedł. W rzeczywistości nie byliśmy z nim w żadnym z pokoi ani miejsc. Naciskał również na każdego w grupie, aby dał mu napiwek przed wyjściem.

2 of the guides were excellent. The third one, that took us to Santa Sofia at 11:30 was very, very rude to one of the families on the group, the lady was almost in tears. I felt very uncomfortable and it spoilt the tour for me.

Arda did a great job! It always was interessting to listen to him. Topkapi palace was stunning and we liked this place a lot. The schedule was clever as we started at the palace and had time for lunch afterwards.

Well coordinated and the walking tour started as per schedule. Perhaps will be good if the guide could indicate ahead the approximate time to be taken for each tour. I saw people struggling towards to the end of each tour as it took quite a fair bit of time in queuing and in-depth explanation by the guide which is appreciated.

Point de rendez-vous aisé. Bonne organisation. Guides compétents et très aimables. Cela vaut vraiment la peine, car énormément de monde, et sans guide et ticket coupe file cela aurait été fastidieux. Je recommande.

Topkapi Palace

Skip-the-line access takes you straight past the seemingly endless lines and into the opulent interiors of Topkapi Palace. Your guide will regale you with tales from the time the palace used to be the residence of the Ottoman sultans. Of particular note are the lavish courtyards, as well as the relics dating back to 15th and 16th centuries including armors, weapons, and manuscripts.

Hagia Sophia

Originally built as a Christian basilica in the Byzantine era in the 6th century, Hagia Sophia served as an imperial mosque later during the Ottoman Empire. Today, it also functions as a museum and draws visitors from all over the world. The massive dome, mosaic artworks, and marble columns show the influence of both cultures.

If you see people attempting to push their thumbs into a column, no need to be confused. This is the “wishing column”, where it is a ritual to push your thumb inside a small orifice and rotate it 360 degrees. If you feel wetness on your finger, it is believed that your wish will come true.

Blue Mosque

Born out of the ambition of Sultan Ahmed I, this is undoubtedly one of the most awe-inspiring mosques in Turkey. The might of the imperial rule is made evident by the enormous dome supported by “elephant foot” pillars, along with over 20,000 ceramic tiles handcrafted by the finest craftsmen of the era. Features such as the high ceilings embellished with chandeliers, the walls with complex calligraphy and geometric patterns, make it hard to believe that the mosque was constructed in mere 7 years.

Additional note

Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia

This tour is not available on Tuesdays.
To enter the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, women must cover their knees, shoulders, and chest. They must also partially cover their hair with a scarf. Men must cover their knees and shoulders. If you do not have a scarf or body cover, you can buy them at the entrance (a scarf is €1 and a body cover is €3).
Please note that during the high season, the waiting time for security checks is around 60 minutes at Hagia Sophia and 45 minutes at the Blue Mosque.
