Why You Shouldn’t Miss This
Why You Shouldn’t Miss This
The Borghese Gallery undoubtedly features one of the best collections of Renaissance art in Europe. From the intricate sculptures of Bellini to the ‘chiaroscuro’ painting style of Caravaggio, there is much to see in this elite sanctum of art.
The stories of these artists are just as exciting as the exhibits in the gallery. The renowned art collector who filled the rooms of the Borghese Gallery with rare sculptures and paintings, Cardinal Scipione, led an interesting life that is worth examining. Your guide will also tell you about Caravaggio, a man who was famous for injecting profound emotions into his paintings. Bernini was one of Cardinal Scipione’s favourite sculptors. Many of the sculptures in the gallery such as ‘Apollo and Daphne’ were crafted by Bernini.
The stories of these prodigies and the peaceful walk through the Villa Borghese Garden make this tour a unique and compelling experience.
