After the spine-chilling Met debut of his opera Dead Man Walking, composer Jake Heggie returns to the stage with his 2010 adaptation of Herman Melville’s sea-battered, storm-chasing classic, Moby-Dick. The star-studded cast sets sail on the Pequod, with tenor Brandon Jovanovich anchoring the role of Captain Ahab, consumed by his relentless quest for the elusive white whale. Joining him is tenor Stephen Costello as Greenhorn (a.k.a. Ishmael), baritone Peter Mattei as the calm yet conflicted first mate Starbuck, and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green as the fierce harpooner Queequeg. The crew is rounded out by soprano Janai Brugger as Pip, tenor William Burden as Flask, and baritone Malcolm MacKenzie as Stubb.

Maestro Karen Kamensek commands the podium, with a haunting staging by Leonard Foglia, now more refined and grandiose than ever after acclaimed runs in Dallas, San Francisco, L.A., and D.C.
