Experience the diverse marine life of Tropical North Queensland at Cairns Aquarium, home to more than 16,000 animals across 11 zones. It is a journey of discovery through various ecosystems, from the Wet Tropics Rainforest to the Great Barrier Reef. The 20-meter long underwater tunnel and the 360-degree Oceanarium will make you feel as if you are drifting right along with sharks, rays, and vibrant reef fish. Fascinating members of the reptile family, such as pythons, crocodiles, and emerald tree monitors, have also found a haven here. If you want to dive deeper into the aquatic world, check out the daily ecosystem talks, animal presentations, and live diver feeds. Don’t miss out on the marine touch tank where you can get up close to sea stars, sea cucumbers, carpet sharks, and more intertidal species.
An encounter with rescued sea turtles
Your ticket also includes a 30-minute guided tour of the onsite Turtle Rehabilitation Centre, a not-for-profit, volunteer run unit. Meet the sea turtles in their care and learn the efforts undertaken to protect them. An audio visual presentation will enlighten you about the dangers faced by the 6 species of Australia’s sea turtles. Feel the satisfaction of being a part of the solution as all the proceeds from the tour will contribute to the food, medicine, veterinary care, and operating costs.
