Comfortable bus. No-one mentioned wifi on board . Was it available, I wonder? We had to get back at 19:40. I think staying another 10 minutes would have made the sunset complete. Why not give us an extra 10 minutes ? No reason really. The commentaries were minimal. So much so that few even thought of giving the guide a tip.... Anyway, a lovely site, and a lovely evening. Finally, it would have been right to mention that the excursion did not inclde the entrance ticket to the site. It is quite cheap anyway, but I was not expecting to have to queue again. Best wishes !

Again, this was overpriced as most of the other tours in Athens, and the experience underwhelming and you spend ~3hrs on the bus in total. It's not really a human guided tour, you listen to it on a portable device on the1.5hr bus trip to the Cape Sounion. My audio device didn't work properly and kept going on and off, therefore I didn't get to enjoy the history. The AC on the outward journey was also not cold at all so it was a sweaty ride in 35c weather! We had just over 1.5hrs at Cape Sounion & Temple of Poisdedon which was more than enough time. The sunset view was breathtaking though!

The guide was lovely, but when I asked at the office if my trip included a ticket to the temple, I was told yes! When I arrived, I was told no, I still had to get a ticket. No-one mentioned that the gates close at 8:30pm before sunset so when you go down to use toilet, you can't get back in. We arrived at 8pm, so that was not a lot of time at all. Told there would be so-goon bus, there was not!

J'ai fait cette visite en juin 2024. Il faut savoir que le temps de trajet est très long (1h30 à 2h environ simplement pour l'aller) et on ne reste pas longtemps sur place. Le guide dans le bus est sensé être un archéologue mais on nous a surtout montré les plages et lieux de vie touristiques ce qui n'a rien à voir pour moi avec le côté Histoire/archéologique. De plus, je pensais qu'il nous raconterait plein d'histoires sur la mythologie grecque mais on nous a seulement raconté celle de Thésée, qui est déjà très connue. Même un membre du groupe a suggéré d'autres histoires mais le guide n'en a pas pris compte. Le guide ne vient pas avec nous sur place donc au final nous avons eu peu de détails sur le Temple de Poséidon, sur ses caractéristiques ou son histoire. Une fois sur place, il n'y a pas beaucoup de choses à faire en dehors du temple. Il y a un café et une petite boutique mais leurs offres sont très réduites. Je suis donc restée sur ma faim et je pense que l'expérience ne vaut pas ce prix. Il y a des prix plus attractifs proposés par les transports publics de la région, et ici le guide n'a pas été très utile.

Your tour will begin at the Halandri Metro station in Athens. You will meet your tour guide aboard the air-conditioned tour bus. You will reach the cape just in time to catch the enchanting sunset. Your guide will tell you several intriguing facts and myths about Cape Sounion. It’s interesting to note that Sounion is also mentioned in Homer’s legendary epic, The Odyssey.

The Temple of Poseidon was a popular destination for famous poets and writers from across the world. The English poet Lord Byron is said to have left his signature on the temple marble nearly two centuries ago. Once you are done exploring the temple, spend a few tranquil moments on the coast, watching the sun disappear below the horizon. On your way back, you can visit the Athens Riviera and walk along the promenade. Several of the charming waterfront cafes are certainly worth a visit.

The entrance fee to archeological sites is NOT included with the ticket price. It costs 10 EUR to enter the archaeological site of Sounion.
EU citizens under the age of 25 and non-EU citizens under 5, enjoy free entry!
Wear comfortable walking shoes. A hat might be a useful accessory as well, especially in summer.
