Your Experience
If you want to get a taste of Japan's past, a trip to Kyoto, the country's former capital, is a must. Enjoy hassle-free transfers as you visit 4 historical sites of Kyoto on this tour.
Fushimi Inari-Taisha and Kiyomizu-Dera Temple
Make your first stop at Fushimi Inari-Taisha, an ancient shrine dedicated to the god of rice and sake. The hundreds of orange torii gates that line the seemingly unending routes to the hillside shrines are the main draw for tourists. This route is not only visually stunning but also instantly conjures up images of traditional Japan.
Next, head to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kiyomizu-Dera Temple, which was built without the use of a single nail and stands strong on 139 pillars. A traditional Japanese meal (optional) will be served or snacks and beverages may be purchased from stores.
Kinkaku-ji and Arashiyama
The next visit will be to Kinkaku-ji, also called The Golden Pavilion, a Zen temple often recognized as Kyoto's most iconic landmark. The upper two stories are covered in gold leaf, and the reflection of this shimmering temple in the pond's quiet waters will stun you; come prepared with a camera.
The journey concludes at Arashiyama. A large number of sightseers have examined photographs of the Togetsu-kyo bridge in the bamboo forest. It's easy to find a spot to pick up some souvenirs to bring back to Osaka from the many shops here.
