Ticketing was straightforward. Meeting point easy to find. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. Ear-pieces all worked properly, so we could hear her well. Fascinating tour.

While we had booked the tickets for the dome tour too, it was only much later that we were informed that it would be an hour later than the main tour. As we were catching a train, we had to miss the Dome tour. Also, the dress code going into the baptistery should have been made much clearer as our guide told us that frequently people will arrive not appropriately dressed.

Climb to the top of the Dome was challenging but worth it. Places to stop and rest on the way up. View from the top was spectacular.

Checking in at our meeting point was difficult as numerous tour operators meet at the same location, and I did not see any sort of flag/sign signifying who out contact should be. The headphones/radios were also not the best quality, so I was not able to hear half of what our guide was saying. While the ticket we purchased did provide access to both the bell tower and cathedral, we had to tour these areas on our own. Maybe this was in the fine print of the ticket that I overlooked, but the name of the tour / headline gives the impression the tour will cover all areas of access. Overall, I was happy to have skip-the-line access but wish there was clearer guidance/instruction for what the ticket actually included.

Climbing the Cupola

At the end of the tour, your guide will lead you to the entrance of the Cupola. From here, you can climb to the top and discover it at your leisure. Halfway through your journey to the top, you will get to see the magnificent arched fresco of The Last Judgement by Giorgio Vasari. The vivid imagery replete with realism will not fail to leave a mark on you. The end of your journey will be rewarded by the breathtaking 360-degree panorama of Florence.

Strict dress code: Clothing that covers the knees and shoulders. Sandals/flip-flops, hats, and sunglasses must be removed before entry.
Shutterbugs, take note: Flash photography is a no-go inside the venue.
Leave your luggage and backpacks behind. Only small bags are allowed inside the museum.

Accessibility

Ramps are available at the Museum, Cathedral, Baptistry, and Santa Reparata for easy access.
The Dome and Bell Tower are not accessible by wheelchair and not recommended for guests with mobility issues, back problems, or heart conditions.
Guide dogs (with relevant certification) are welcome at the venue.

There are a whopping 463 steps to the top of the Dome and 414 steps to the top of Giotto's Bell Tower, with no elevator access. Are you up for the challenge?
Dome access is so exclusive, even guides can't get in. Yep, you read that right! Dome access is just for the privileged few, so you'll be unaccompanied for that part of the tour.
