La sinagoga è molto bella, bravissimo Francesco, la nostra guida che, oltre a notizie ed informazioni, ci ha trasmesso tutte le emozioni legate alla storia della sinagoga durante la seconda guerra mondiale.

No sólo es la tercera más grande del mundo, para ser una sinagoga es excepcionalmente lujosa y con una interesante colección fotográfica relativa a la masacre que hicieron los nazis y los miembros de la "cruz flechada" .

The Great Synagogue

Spare yourself the trouble of waiting in a long queue with this ticket and alongside your guide simply start your tour of the Great Synagogue. Its huge size depicts the high economic and cultural standards of the Budapest Jewry of the age. Marvel at the 44 meters high towers and the flat-ceilinged inner space decorated with intricate carvings and designs. The guide will tell you informational facts and history about the attraction like how the synagogue was built in 1859 in the Moorish style seating 3000 people.

The Courtyard

Visit the Heroes’ Temple, which seats 250 people and is still used for religious services on weekdays and during the winter time. It serves as a memorial to the martyred Hungarian Jews. Enter the Hungarian Jewish Museum next to the Synagogue. It was built in 1930 and attached to the main building in 1931. It houses a collection of religious relics of Pest Hevrah Kaddishah, ritual objects of Shabbat, and a Holocaust room that gives you an insight into the life of the Jewish people in Hungary. Explore the Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park which holds the Memorial of the Hungarian Jewish Martyrs and the cemetery in the courtyard of those who died in the ghetto from hunger and cold during the winter of 1944 – 1945.

Know Before You Go

Important Information

The guided tour is available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Polish, Hebrew, and Hungarian.
After ticket validation, you will be handed a kippah (a brimless cap, usually made of cloth, traditionally worn by Jewish males) at the entrance that you must wear in the complex at all times.
Strict Dress Code: Men are forbidden to enter the synagogue without covering their heads. Please put on a cap or a hat, wear the kippah in the complex at all times, and wear decent clothes to the temple.
Clothing items can be purchased from ticket inspectors.

Restrictions

Note that the following are not allowed on this tour: sleeveless tops, short skirts or shorts, phones, metal objects, large bags, outside food, and beverages.
