This historic crypt serves as the final resting place for Medici family members, offering insights into their lifestyles and the mysteries surrounding their demise.
Michelangelo's New Sacristy
Designed by Michelangelo, the Sagrestia Nuova is a 16th-century addition to the Basilica, created to honor members of the Medici family. Along the way, you’ll see how Michelangelo brilliantly combined architecture and sculpture to reflect his take on human existence. Although Michelangelo left the chapel unfinished in 1534, the work that remains is a testament to his genius.
Chapel of the Princes: A grand mausoleum
End with a visit to the Chapel of the Princes, a magnificent octagonal mausoleum decorated with stunning gemstones and exquisite marbles. Featuring a large dome, the chapel stands as a testament to the Medici family's wealth and influence.

The chapels are equipped with toilets and restrooms, including wheelchair accessible washrooms. Changing tables are also available.

A limited number of lockers are available to store belongings. You’re required to pay a €1 deposit if you want to use them. The deposit will be returned when you leave the attraction.
