It is an impressive wall, but it requires an physical effort to see all of it. It reminds me the wall from the Game of the thrones. Nice forest as well

Très beau château et magnifique vu en haut, mais le transport de la navette vendu avec les billets est inutile. Une fois arrivée au jardin de Pena, il faut environ 10 minutes pour se rendre du jardin au Palais, mais c'est un extra d'environ 8€ par billet...

Your ad shows way lower prices than you end up getting. Also, site did not allow for senior discounted pricing that your ad shows. Your ad said it was a skip the line & self guided audio, but they laughed at Regaleira & said there is no skip the line & no audio set was offered. But tickets were easy to get & worked fine at venues.

Expérience incroyable! En plus des fortifications, le château offre une vue imprenable sur Sintra. La randonnée pour s'y rendre (seulement 2-3km du centre de Sintra) se fait très bien et le parc est magnifique. L'entrée est facilement accessible, aucune file d'attente. Regardez la météo avant de choisir votre date: la vue du Palais de Pena est superbe, mais on ne le voit pas bien lorsqu'il y a des passages nuageux.

Your experience

In the days of yore when large swathes of Portugal were occupied by the Moors, a fortress was built to serve the purpose of a watchtower and an observation post. Over time, its allegiance changed from the Moors to the Vikings to the Moors before finally perishing at the hands of Christian rule. As Sintra's strategic importance dwindled, the castle was eventually abandoned. However, the mid-19th century saw a restoration project influenced by the Romantic tastes of the era and undertaken by Ferdinand II. The views from the walls of the castle are truly spectacular. To the south, you can see beyond the river Tejo to Arrabida, and to the west, Cabo da Roca, and to the north, Peniche. From up here, you can also admire the Pena Palace and the hills of Sintra, covered in green and dotted with beautiful homesteads and romantic chalets. Archeological excavations continue to this day, and so far it has led to the discovery of a Christian graveyard and many artifacts that are now on display in the castle. Today, the remarkable Morish Castle is a National Monument, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and open to visitors from all walks of life.

What to bring

Comfortable shoes are a must! You will find lots of stairs and steep steps inside, as you head to the top. You need to be a little bit fit to conquer this castle!
Stay Hydrated: Take water with you because you can get thirsty after the many steps. During summers, it can get very sunny.
