The Concert
The Royal Concertgebouw brings you ‘The Sunday Morning Concert’, a chance to enjoy wonderful and much-loved compositions, performed by top musicians from around the world. Complete your Sunday with a guided tour post the concert, or enjoy a scrumptious champagne brunch in the Pleinfoyer.
Experience The Royal Concertgebouw’s exceptional acoustics as you savour the sounds of Christian Vasquez leading The Gelderland Orchestra in their performance of Beethoven’s ‘Eroica’.
Beethoven’s ‘Eroica’
This work was originally going to be titled the “Bonaparte Symphony” as tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte, but after he crowned himself, Beethoven did not wish to dedicate a piece to a man he now considered a “tyrant”. The history behind this piece consists of Beethoven striving for a new kind of sound, and hence “Eroica” has often been hailed as an unparalleled masterpiece.
