The museum proudly showcases an extensive assortment of royal vehicles spanning the 19th, 18th, and 17th centuries, constituting one of the most exceptional collections of its kind. Explore the historical modes of travel for the Portuguese and nobility from other European courts, including the grandeur of Philip II's traveling coach and the monumental carriages that played a role in Portugal's splendid embassy to the Pope.
Museum steeped in history
Located near the Tag River in Lisbon's west, the museum exhibit center is housed in the former Royal Palace of Belém, which today serves as the official residence of the President of the Republic. Glance over the carriage history with the help of 7 interactive screens and 11 passive screens in the Museum. You'll be fascinated by learning all the valuable information about the premier collection with the help of two large projections.
