The Palace is beautiful, not sure we really explored the gardens enough and great to have the transfer bus inside the gates. Booking I must admit face value of tickets compared to booking cost was a staggering 7.15€ per person over 30% on booking fees each. I hope this goes to the upkeep of the venue.

What a lovely experience to visit Peña Palace on a beautiful day in Lisbon. We travelled to the palace on the shuttle for an 11:00 am appointment. The tour through the palace was leisurely and very informative. Exquisite decor throughout the house really captured the historical essence of Peña Palace.

Das wunderschöne romantische Schloss ist definitiv sehenswert, sowohl von innen, als auch von außen. Gefallen hat mir die relativ kurze Wartezeit trotz Massentourismus aufgrund der zeitlichen Einteilung für den Einlass. Spaß hat es gemacht, dass man außerhalb der Burg an sämtlichen Türmchen herum laufen konnte und die Möglichkeit, draußen im Café sitzen zu können. Der Massentourismus war allerdings schockierend, allein bis man vom Bahnhof bis zum Schloss gekommen ist, hat sehr viel Zeit in Anspruch genommen. Leider hatten wir auch nur Nebelschwaden um uns herum, was dem Schloss eine gewisse Mystik verliehen hat, aber der schöne Ausblick in die Weite war leider nicht möglich.

Het is een heel mooie plek om te zijn. Met veel bijzonderheden. Tip: Pena Palace neem bus 434. Die brengt je naar de ingang van het park. Scheelt je een hele hoop klimwerk, tenzij je dat een leuke uitdaging vindt ( wij liepen zelf naar boven en dat kostte ongeveer een klein uurtje. Want verkeerd lopen, je kent dat wel). Enne alle paleizen bezoeken op 1 dag, vergeet dat maar. Pak er twee die je cht wilt zien.

The meeting point address provided was not correct for Uber, luckily our driver was good enough to drop us at the right location But once inside everything went smoothly.

National Palaces

The two palaces sit 4km from each other, and have distinct identities. Pena Palace on the Portuguese Riviera, stands on the top of a hill in the Sintra Mountains above the town of Sintra. The palace and its surrounding gardens have unique aesthetics, representing 19th century Romanticism. The Palace of Sintra is much older, and serves as a present-day historic house museum. Being inhabited for nearly 8 centuries, the palace is filled to the brim with stories and legends of age-old monarchs.
