New Paradigms in Contemporary Art
Reaching for the Stars is a new exhibition at Museo Palazzo Strozzi showcasing over 70 works from the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Collection, one of the world's most celebrated and prestigious collections of contemporary art. From Maurizio Cattelan to Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, this exhibition explores the stars of today's art world. Promoting experimentation and participation, Reaching for the Stars features new works as well as a series of activities in collaboration with artists who are the exhibition's protagonists.
Critical Engagement
This is a platform for visitors to critically reflect on the current state of art as well as its future. How? By showcasing its variety, evolution, and relationship with society - as the globally-integrated metropolis it is today.
Take in great British art like the imaginative works of kinesthetic sculptor Sarah Lucas, conceptual installations by Anish Kapoor, and enigmatic paintings and floor-based sculptures by the UK's richest living artist Damien Hirst.
Also watch out for the current greats in Italian art. Paola Pivi is a multimedia artist that never fails to deliver a creative arrangement of photography, sculpture, and exhibition. Maurizio Cattela is a visual artist known for hyperrealistic installations with a satiric undertone.
In parallel, there are sections focusing on the body, the identity and mythologies of the present, with works by Cindy Sherman, Pawel Althamer, Josh Kline, Barbara Kruger, Shirin Neshat that address themes such as resilience and alienation, racial and gender discrimination, and the relationship between community and individuality.
