Prachtig museum met veel topstukken. Je hebt er wel een paar rondjes voor nodig om recht te doen aan alle bezienswaardige stukken. Bovendien is het Prado personeel buitengewoon vriednelijk en behulpzaam bij het vinden van de weg (dit in grote tegenstelling met de houding van het (horeca) personeel bij Reina Sofia). Wij hadden een drie in een ticket (Prado, Reina en Thyssen). Op zich hebben wij waar voor ons geld gekregen. Toch bleken wij onvoldoende voorbereid. Er bleken verschillende openingstijden aan de orde (een van de drie ging op zondag vroeg dicht) en er blijken dagen te zijn waarop de toegang geheel gratis is. Dat is een punt voor de volgende keer.

È stata un'ottima esperienza: ali musei Thyssen e Reins Sofia abbiamo saltato la coda è siamo entrati immediatamente. Al Prato abbiamo fatto una piccola cosa di 10 minuti Tutti e tre i musei ci sono piaciuti Il Prato eccezionale. Peccato non si possano fare foto, nemmeno senza flash. Grazie!

El servicio funcionó muy bien; en cada museo solo debía mostrar el QR de mi entrada y te daban la entrada; fuí en Julio y casi no había filas, de igual manera, consultaba a cada trabajador antes de empezar una fila para saber donde canjear la entrada. Es recomendable hacer una captura de pantalla del QR ya que a veces cuesta cargar al app en un momento de apuro y... el unico detalle que puedo decir, es que es MUY cansador visitar tres museos en un día pero es muy gratificante. Recomiento comenzar temprano, apenas abre el Reina Sofia, cerca de las 12hrs almorzar algo e ir hasta el Museo del Padro, ya que es el más grande y donde posiblemente pasaran toda la tarde; y cerca de las 5 ir al Thyssen que suele ser el más pequeño y menos visitado.

The museum was amazing and better, in my opinion, than the Uffizi in Florence. We bought a three museum pass and information about how to use this could have been better -- even though it was advertised as 'skip the line' we still needed to go to the ticket office and collect paper tickets. Luckily the lines were short.

Prado of course is good but no photo allowed even without flash? Too strict. Been there before and it was allowed. Been to other museums all over the world and photos using phone camera without flash is allowed. Part of the experience in the 20th century is taking some photos of favorites memorable experiences. We are frequent museum visitors with GenZ visitors too. And to attract young people too this must be considered.

The Reina Sofia Museum is home to the greatest Spanish artists from the 20th century which attracts more than 3.5 million visitors annually. The collections consist of 1,653 paintings and 707 sculptures along with a horde of paperwork, graphic art, and photographs.

However, the museum is most famous for the Guernica. This prolific piece by Pablo Picasso symbolizes Spain’s transition to democracy and is a universally recognized icon for the principles of anti-war and anti-autocracy. With lush gardens and vaulted hallways, walking through this artsy abode is a delight in itself and that statement doesn’t even account for the artworks inside.

What's not allowed

Photos without flash, tripod, monopode, or any other stabilizing element of cameras are allowed, except where otherwise indicated. No photos or image recordings are allowed in area 206 (Guernica).

Accessibility

The venue loans special hearing loops for people with hearing impairment.

Additional information

Make sure to keep your ticket during the entire visit, as the Museum staff may ask you for it at any time.
Due to conservation measures, the exhibition rooms must be kept at a constant temperature of 21º Celsius. Given the temperature inside the Museo, an item of warm clothing in summer is recommended.
Guests under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Guests between the ages of 14 and 18 who wish to visit the museum without an adult must show their national ID document.
