Here comes the Korean War expert...
Get used to everyone saying that about you, once you're through this day tour of DMZ. With a convenient hotel pickup from Seoul in an AC vehicle and an expert guide by your side, dive right back in time.
Your first stop is Imjingak Park. Here, you’ll see the Iron Horse Train, symbolizing the railroad split by the Korean War. Visit the Mangbaedan Altar, where refugees honor their ancestors during Chuseok, and the Unification Pond, shaped like the Korean peninsula.
Ring the Peace Bell before you head to the Bridge of Freedom, built-in 1953 to repatriate 12,773 prisoners of war. Then, explore the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, discovered in 1978. This tunnel, dug by North Korea for a potential invasion, is 1,635 meters long and can move an entire division per hour. If you’re not comfortable with confined spaces, you can wait by the exit.
You'll be taking notes...
Afterward, visit the DMZ Theater, where a short film provides insight into the Korean conflict and the creation of the DMZ. Adjacent to the theater, the DMZ Exhibition Hall offers a deeper dive into the history with photos, documents, and artifacts from the Korean War.
Gather a clear view of the North Korean landscape, including Kijong-dong, the propaganda village, from the Dora Observatory. Finally, pass by the Unification Village, where you'll see daily life near the DMZ before you are dropped off at the City Hall area in downtown Seoul.
