Selene, thank you, Our guide's knowledge is encyclopedic encompassing not merely Roman sites but their local or foreign origins. Furthermore she has an astonishing grasp of Greek culture and history whether classical or early medieval through 15th century Byzantine. Her remarkable personality captured and maintained the curiosity of four children ~ages 6 to 14 throughout the tour's 3 hours (an uncanny ability). A truly uniquely qualified and astonishing woman. La visita fue excepcional porque es una maravilla de basílica, es un museo en sí. Pero además tuvimos la enorme suerte de que nuestro guía fuera el padre Emmanuel, lo cual no es habitual, y nos lo explicó todo muy bien. La visita fue muy amena e interesante y nuestro guía un encanto. Por el contrario, fue un caos acceder hasta la basilica. Pensábamos que con la reserva del guia no era necesario hacer la cola pero todo el mundo debe hacer las 2 horas de cola del control de seguridad, y esto deberían avisarlo. Por otro lado preguntábamos a las personas de seguridad e incluso nos dijeron que no era posible que hubiésemos reservado un tour con guía ya que ese servicio no se ofrecía, que en la basílica solo se ofrecían audioguías. Tanto es así que estuvimos a punto de no entrar. Por otro lado se indica que hay que acudir al mostrador de visitas guiadas y eso no existe tal cual. Hay que dirigirse al mostrador en el que reparten las audioguías, y no había ninguna identificación de la empresa de las visitas guiadas. Al final hicimos la cola del control de seguridad y pudimos llegar a nuestro tour guiado y mereció mucho la pena.

Excellent guide. Unfortunately because 2025 is a Jubilee year, many monuments (Pieta, Piazza Navona...) are covered for cleaning. Our visit was fine but be aware you may not see some of the paintings, sculptures or sites you expected to see.

Wir haben sehr viel gelernt und die Reiseführerin hat ausführlich und verständlich erklärt. Die Tour hat uns sehr gefallen und wir waren absolut zufrieden mit der Reiseführerin. Gerne würden wir sowas nochmal machen und weiterempfehlen. Es war ein tolles Erlebnis !!

This experience is wheelchair and pram/stroller accessible. The right semicircle of Saint Peter’s Square is equipped with ramp access into the Basilica. For any special requirements, contact accoglienza@fsp.va in advance.
Sign language guided tours are available at the Basilica. This service must be booked at least 48 hours in advance at the following email address: visiteguidate@fsp.va.
