  • Ryogoku: Sumo’s heart

    Begin your sumo experience in Ryogoku, Tokyo’s sumo district, home to the Ryogoku Kokugikan arena. On this tour, a local guide will walk you through the history of sumo, explaining its origins from Shinto rituals and its evolution as Japan’s national sport. You will visit key landmarks, including sumo stables, or "heya," where wrestlers live and train. Your guide will also cover sumo’s rules, traditions, and cultural significance, preparing you for the tournament while offering insight into sumo’s role in Japanese culture.

    Sumo seats & souvenirs

    Following the guided tour, you’ll head to the Ryogoku Kokugikan, the main venue for professional sumo wrestling in Tokyo. You will be escorted to your B seats, located on the second floor between the 7th and 11th rows. These seats provide an excellent view of the wrestling ring, allowing you to witness every move and strategy during the match. After enjoying the excitement of the sumo tournament, be sure to collect your tour photos as a keepsake of this unique Japanese cultural experience. Alternatively, you can choose premium S-ranked seats located between the 1st and 3rd rows, typically reserved for Japanese citizens.

    • On the last day of the Sumo tournament, all S-ranked seats are booked, so the tickets available are A-ranked seats, which are in rows 4 to 6 on the 2nd floor.

    • Please arrive at the meeting point 15 mins before the scheduled time of your tour to avoid any delays.
