It's impossible to narrow it down to a paragraph, let alone a sentence. The art is overwhelming and requires AT LEAST a full day to view. This should be noted on marketing materials/ reservations/ tickets/ etc. I was probably most moved by Botticelli's paintings. They appeared as if they were created yesterday!🙌

I had great fun visiting the Uffizi, which may be the most important art museum in the Western world. Some of the most beautiful, timeless Western paintings and sculptures are featured there, and seeing them in real life made me feel like the happiest person in the world.

I wanted to explore the Uffizi museum on my own. I knew a guide would just want to rush at their own tune but I was sure which places I really wanted to stop and savor the art. The audio guide helped me do that. It gave me all the info yet I could control my pace.

I was looking to save money while on my solo trip across Europe. While I Florence I booked my tours through Headout. One of them was the skip the line tickets for Uffizi and Accademia. It saved a lot of my time and the audio guide was a big help. Travelling alone you do tend to miss out on a lot of stuff but with the guide I didn’t miss anything.

Getting information prior to the tours was not clear. The tours themselves were well run but too little time at each venue and the lunch was scheduled too closely to our Uffizi Gallery tour. Luckily our tour guide called the restaurant and they were able to accommodate us at a later time. I would have liked to have time after the tours to see more of the venues but that was not possible. Next time I would book these tours separately.

This is why the word "Uffizi", which is derived from ‘offices’, was used as its official name. After the completion of the complex in 1581, the top floor of the building was made into a museum for its tenants and guests who wished to view the Roman sculptures up close. Between the 16th and 17th century, the Hall of Geographic Maps (dedicated to maps of the Medici domains in Florence), as well as the Mathematics Room (containing important scientific discoveries from that period), were built inside the gallery. Today Uffizi boasts of an impressive collection of artworks dating back hundreds of centuries.
