Led by a knowledgeable guide, you'll view some of the most iconic locations from the Lord Of The Rings franchise. As you're driven to the Martinborough region, you'll first witness Helms Deep, where the epic battle sequence was filmed. As you proceed, you will see the River Anduin, where Frodo and his companions sail to Rivendell, as well as Minas Tirith, the capital of Gondor. Don't forget to take in the breathtaking beauty of Rivendell, which served as the setting for this magical world.
Relishing Wines In Martinborough: The Wine Capital
The Lord of the Rings locations are just one part of the journey. You'll first visit Kaitoke Regional Park to check out the swing bridge and loop track. After that it's off to Martinborough, New Zealand's unique wine region, for a behind-the-scenes look at how some of the country's best wines are made. Here you'll stop at two boutique wineries and taste a variety of the region's revered wines. The wine-tasting experience can also be combined with a gourmet lunch buffet for an extra fee.
The Natural Beauties Of Martinborough
On the route, you'll pass by the fishing village of Ngawi, where you'll see fishermen using tractors to haul boats into the water. Then it's time to meet some of New Zealand's cutest residents: the seals at Cape Palliser! Watch them romp and play in their natural surroundings before traveling to the Cape Palliser Lighthouse for breathtaking views of the coastline. At the end of the tour, you'll have the chance to grab a coffee or ice cream at Ngawi’s caravan shop on your way back to Wellington city.
