The 516 Arouca Suspension bridge receives its name from the translation of its length in meters and is located in the Arouca Geopark, one of the only parks of its kind in Portugal.
Crossing The World's Longest Suspension Bridge
Enjoy comfortable transfers from Porto to Arouca and, along the way, travel through some of Portugal’s beautiful and serene countryside and villages. There's a short detour to the town of Arouca where you can pick up a quick snack, buy a souvenir or two, or sample the traditional sweets.
Once you reach the Arouca Geopark, in the company of your experienced guide, start at Areinho – the entrance to the Paiva walkway. A stairway extends to over 300 steps to reach the 516 Arouca suspension bridge, suspended 175 meters above the Paiva River. Admire views of the Aguieira Waterfall and the river as you learn about this amazing feat of human architecture.
Walk Along The Paiva River & Relish A Local Meal
Follow the path of the Paiva walkway for 8 km along the side of the river. Spend a few minutes in the wilderness on the other side of the bridge and relax at Vau beach. The final destination of the tour is Espiunca, where the hike ends, and you'll be taken to a local restaurant to savor local delicacies like arouquesa, DPO meat (other options are also available), and local varieties of liquor.
