Port Stephens Council and the Port Stephens Koala Hospital founded the Koala Sanctuary to care for koalas in need and raise awareness about their needs. With this ticket, end up becoming a koala aficionado as you catch glimpses of the shy marsupials and learn interesting facts about them from a local ambassador.
Get to also visit the Koala Hospital which provides state-of-the-art veterinary treatments which viewers can observe through a viewing window. The Koala Hospital is fitted with an intensive care unit and recovery pens to address emergency situations.
The Sanctuary Story Walk will take you through a winding 250-meter path, lined with stimulating sculptures and stories. These artistic representations delve into the history of koalas, their niches, as well as their role on the planet. The Sanctuary Story Walk is a truly immersive experience for all ages.
Make sure you have your cameras ready for this next stop because the 225 m-high Newcastle Airport SKYwalk is something you will want to remember for eternity! The elevated platform allows visitors to view the koala’s environment in the form of carefully simulated enclosures from among the treetops.
