I only had an hour available to visit Holyrood which of course wasn't long enough. However, I enjoyed the tour and especially Mary's quarters. The grounds looked amazing and I would have loved to have wandered through the gardens.

I really appreciated the audio tour and wish there was one for Edinburgh Castle that was included with the admission price. I do wish we were able to take pictures inside, however....

I accidentally booked the wrong day. When I turned up when I had intended the staff were very understanding and it was no issue at all.

I loved how organised and efficient it was. Lots of information and excellent audio guide easy to following with numbering of rooms etc. One comment I hope will make a difference - the cafe did not have any gluten free food, except a few prepackaged snack bars at the checkout. The staff were not well versed in being asked about it either. Some GF scones would have been very well received. Scone Palace in Perth did have GF scones which was really wonderful for someone like me who loves a scone and can seldom have one due to having an allergy to gluten. Other than that, the whole experience will brilliant, thank you!

Situated at the end of the Royal Mile in the center of Edinburgh, the Palace of Holyroodhouse is absolutely stunning both inside and out. A royal residence in Scotland for over 5 centuries, His Royal Majesty The King uses it for state ceremonies and official entertaining.

Explore the Historic Apartments of Mary, Queen of Scots. These walls have witnessed many dramatic events during her short and turbulent reign, including the murder of her Italian secretary by her husband Lord Darnley. It is hardly a surprise then that her Bedroom came to be described as 'the most famous room in Scotland'.

Take a walk through the exquisitely decorated State Apartments, renowned for their beautiful plasterwork ceilings, historical works of art, and unparalleled collection of Brussels tapestries. Reflecting on the changing tastes of the succeeding monarchs through the ages, the scope of decor is impressive. Visit the Great Gallery, where Bonnie Prince Charlie held several lavish balls after the setup of Jacobite Court in September 1745.

Take the chance to discover the ruins of Holyrood Abbey and the Palace's unique gardens, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Arthur’s Seat. Admire a colorful array of medicinal and culinary plants inspired by some of the earliest recorded gardens of the site, at the newly added physic garden. If you wish, on your own, drop by at the Café at the Palace, where you can get everything from light refreshments and afternoon tea to lunch. You will get to enjoy delicious homemade dishes made from locally sourced produce.
