Visit the Volcanic Eruption Site of Meradlir
A volcanic eruption site in Iceland is rarely accessible which is why a visit to Meradlir Volcano is a must on the itinerary. As you hike to the eruption site, your guide will take you to a panoramic viewpoint from where you can see the freshly formed lava fields down the valley. These fields serve as beautiful examples of how a volcano's eruption can drastically alter the surrounding environment.
Explore the Centerpiece of UNESCO Global GeoPark
As you visit the protected geothermal area of the Gunnuhver hot springs, you will see steam vents and mud pools dotting the landscape. Here, you will be taken on a tour of Iceland’s largest mud pool, where sulphuric steam lingers over the area.
Visit Iceland’s Oldest Lighthouse
Located on the Bæjarfell hill, surrounded by the tranquil and incorrupt Black Lava beach, the Reykjanesviti lighthouse has guided ships on the peninsula for over a century. Here, you can see the Valhnkamöl boulder ridge, sea cliffs, sea stacks, and skerries, which serve as a haven for seabirds to lay their eggs.
Arrive at the Intersection of 2 Continents
On the last leg of the guided tour, arrive at a bridge that connects the tectonic plates of North America and Eurasia and is the root cause of all the natural marvels that you see in the region.
