The Wolf’s Lair: The Heart of the Nazi War Machine
After a hotel pickup and a scenic drive through the Masurian forests, arrive at the Wolf’s Lair complex. This was where Hitler and his generals planned and executed their war strategies, including the invasion of the Soviet Union and the genocide of the Jews. Explore the site on foot, seeing some of the 50 bunkers, 70 barracks, and two airfields that once housed up to 2,000 people. You’ll also learn about the assassination attempt on Hitler in 1944, which took place in one of the bunkers.
Mamerki: The Well-Preserved Nazi Shelters
Visit the town of Mamerki and see the Nazi shelters that were used by German officers and soldiers during the war. These bunkers were part of the Supreme Command of the Land Forces and were involved in the coordination and communication of military operations in the region. You’ll also have a chance to see some of the exhibits and museums that showcase various aspects of the war, such as the Amber Chamber and the U-boat.
