Herculaneum Skip-the-Line Guided Tour with an Archaeologist

I would recommend 10/10! Our archeologist tour guide, Luciano Leone, was amazing! It's obvious he is passionate about his work, provides valuable insight and has a witty personality. Getting to actually walk in the actual places that people walked 2000 years ago was simply astounding.

Very nice visit in French with an archaeologist who explained the site well and showed us the most interesting places. Thanks to Francesco for a very informative and enjoyable 2-hour visit.

The tour of Herculaneum was brilliant and the guide, Danilo, was very knowledgeable. My only gripe may have been my own fault. I followed the directions in the email, thinking that was to the meeting point, wrong, it was to the backdoor of the Archeology Unit. On re-reading the email I found a second set of directions to the meeting point. My wife was not impressed with my navigating.

Everything was wonderful! The guide was very informative and entertaining. The only thing I would suggest is changing the picture of where to meet in case our others were literal like us. :)

We had a wonderful guided tour of Herculaneum with our archeologist guide Nicoletta. The level of detail and information provided was excellent while also being entertaining and funny. Nicoletta chose perfect spots to stop and speak while allowing a good amount of time to take in the area and take photos. We would highly recommend this tour and are very grateful to our guide. Our tour was moved back three hours which limited our time to visit the site after the tour. The tour itself was very interesting and informative and our guide was very knowledgeable. This was the best way to learn about the history of the ancient city. Highly recommended.

The guided tour was very good, interesting and historical content. The guide Lia very friendly and well prepared and knowledgeable about the history of the place and Italy.

This was a fabulous tour and Bruno was excellent. He patiently answered lots of extra questions too. We booked the morning of and soooooo glad we did as we would not have gotten near the experience without his added knowledge. He was very informative and engaging. For the extra 30E above the entry fee this was very worth it!

The guided tour with Dr. Luciano Leone was great. So much enthusiasm and expertise. Unfortunately, we didn't understand everything. There was no guided tour in German and our knowledge of "Italian-English" is limited. But we definitely gained a good experience! Thank you very much.

Dr. Luciano Leone was an experienced guide, who had compiled a book of resources to help us to understand the unique qualities of the Herculaneum site. His commentary gave us a window into the day-to-day life of both the elites and the slaves of the time. He talked extensively about the observations of Pliny the elder that comprise the best historical record of the eruption that ended life at Herculaneum. Learning about the single use amphorae for olive oil and other goods was exciting to me as a potter. Lots of ceramic opportunities to make new pots! Although, I probably would have been a slave....

Loved the knowledgeable guide and the ease of booking, even last minute. Appreciated that the company helped us catch up to the tour when our directions were faulty.

Our guide Elizabeth was fantastic. Full of enthusiasm and as an archeologist she had a world of knowledge of Herculaneum. She was also very friendly and helpful. The whole experience was very interesting and enjoyable. Can definitely recommend.

The archaeologist guide Nilo, who knows his subject and speaks very good French, is fascinating. He captivates visitors with his detailed explanations, answers to questions, anecdotes and his own experience as an archaeologist, and conveys his passion for the impressive site. Guide Nilo is as exceptional as the excavations at Hetculanum.
