From Tromso: Silent Whale Watching Tour

We had such a great experience that day! :) Firstly, everything was very well organized. We received a mail the day before the tour that it was fully booked and that everyone should arrive at the meeting point earlier for a smooth start. MS Gabriele was very spacey, there were tables to sit at and comfortable seats. At the bar in the centre of the boat, people could always buy drinks and snacks. One way was approximately 2 hours, but our guides were giving really interesting information about the whales and the arctic all the time. Also, we were always allowed to stay on deck and observe the ride. Then, when we finally arrived at the whale watching spot, our guide Martina would be outside with us, instructing everyone where to look at, what to look for, etc. We saw plenty of whales, some tails - it was really, really nice and an unforgettable experience! :)

The experience is quite different than the name suggests. There's nothing silent about this tour - the guides use loudspeakers that are VERY loud, there's a lot of talking and even if you're not interested, you have to hear all that they have to say - ANC headphones aren't that strong. The waters can be really rough, depending on the weather, so be warned (obviously that's not the organizers' fault - just a friendly reminder). The drinks and food on the boat are obviously quite pricey and you may encounter groups with their own guides, making the experience even more noisy and annoying. You might actually see some whales in the wild though, so there's that :)

Seeing the whales in their natural habitat was surreal – they’re so majestic. The team was awesome, sharing so much interesting info and keeping the mood light and fun. It’s one of those experiences you’ll remember forever.

Staff was nice, the boat was neat and well maintained. Views were spectacular. If you are in Tromso, do not miss this tour.

Absolutely amazing experience! The team’s enthusiasm was contagious as they shared fascinating and humorous insights about the local wildlife, including orcas, humpback whales, and more. Cruising alongside the breathtaking snowy mountains felt like a dream, and spotting both orcas and humpback whales was truly the highlight of the trip. They maintained a respectful distance from the animals, which we really appreciated. Highly recommend this adventure to everyone!

A long trip from Tromso... Takes a few hours before you reach your destination...With guides who really know what they are talking about, marine biologists. Saw many orcas and humpback whales. The natural beauty around Tromsø is out of this world.

It was a fun trip. The views were incredible, and spotting killer whales was the highlight of our tour. The guides were so friendly and easygoing, you could tell they love what they do. It’s hard to put into words how special this tour was. Just go – you won’t regret it!"
