Rottnest like you've never seen it
Ever wondered what it's like to see Rottnest Island from above? Well, you're in luck. Tandem skydiving is now available over this Western Australian gem, and it's quickly becoming a must-do for thrill-seekers and nature lovers alike.
You can choose from three different jump heights – 10,000ft, 14,000ft, or 15,000ft. The higher you go, the longer you'll freefall. At 10,000ft, you're looking at about 30 seconds of freefall, while 15,000ft gives you a full minute. It's not a huge difference, but that extra time can feel like an eternity when you're plummeting towards Earth at 200km/hour.
Getting prepped and the big leap
Before you know it, you're suited up, strapped to your instructor, and you're taking off. The plane ride itself is pretty sweet – 20 minutes of flying over Rottnest, Perth, and the coastline.
Then it's time. The door opens, and suddenly you're falling at 200km/hour. You can see everything – the island, the ocean, maybe even Perth in the distance. After the freefall, your chute opens and you'll float down for about 5 minutes. Keep an eye out for quokkas or dolphins below.
One of the coolest parts? You land on the beach. It might be Thompson Bay, Bickley Bay, or Salmon Bay, depending on the weather. Either way, you're touching down on some of Australia's most beautiful sand. If you're up for an unforgettable experience, this is it. Just don't forget to keep your eyes open!
