We went when it was cooler temp, mud-week and it wasn't crowded at all and the animals were all active and not hiding in their dens trying to stay cool. Very disappointed that the zoo no longer has a tram system that helps you get to different areas...that in itself might deter me from going as I get older.

I think it was Tim who shred his knowledge about the Orangatans. We met the older female, Aunt Karen, who came up and said hello to him as he said she usually does. It was very special. We didn't get any good shots of Karen but here's one of a Silverback. It's a beautiful zoo and everyone was relaxed & patient. Nice day :)

The San Diego Zoo exceeded all my expectations! From the moment we entered, the staff was welcoming and knowledgeable, and the entire experience was seamless. The zoo is beautifully maintained, with lush landscapes that make you feel like you’re in the animals’ natural habitats. The variety of animals is incredible, and it’s clear they prioritize conservation and education. I loved learning about their efforts to protect endangered species. The exhibits are thoughtfully designed, providing great viewing opportunities while ensuring the animals have plenty of space to roam. The Skyfari ride was a fun way to see the zoo from above, and the guided bus tour was both informative, entertaining and convenient for covering more ground. Overall, the San Diego Zoo is a must-visit destination that combines entertainment with education and care for wildlife. I can’t wait to visit again!

I was glad to get my ticket in advance thru Headout online. I only wished that I knew multi visits to the San Diego Zoo & Safari Park could have been combined so I would have gotten a lower overall cost. But the parks were great!

Great Experirnce - Must Do! Take the bus first - sit on top deck right side for best view. Gondola was fantastic. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Animals and facilities very well cared for. Absolutely worth the visit.

Tours depart from boarding locations approximately every half hour.
