Whether you're a beginner or a pro, Mayrhofen in the Zillertal Alps has plenty of ski slopes on offer, across difficulty levels. In fact, there is a 600 km stretch of skiing and excellent facilities at the foot of slopes from the Hintertux glacier. With just a single pass, you get access to the 13 resorts across the Zillertal valley, on the banks of the Ziller River. All villages and ski resorts within the domain have a diverse mix of restaurants too, so you can load up on good food when you visit with friends and family. The pass also gives you the possibility of accessing Hochzillertal - Hochfügen - Spieljoch, Zillertal Arena, Mayrhofen, and Zillertal. That's 3,000 areas with beautifully-groomed pistes, snowparks, and off-piste routes that descend into the villages of the valley. There's absolutely no chance of getting bored, what with new tracks to discover every day!
As the center of the domain, Mayrhofen boasts of the steepest descent in Austria: the legendary Harakiri. It has an incline of 78%, only recommended for expert skiers. From the Hintertux glacier, skiers enjoy the wide and long tracks covered with powder snow. Hochzillertal, on the other hand, is the best freeride resort in the valley and has a good pipe. Zillertal Arena is home to the largest resort and has a park in the Gerlos area. For those looking for a dose of nightlife and fun, there are endless pubs and nightclubs throughout Zillertal.
Skiing in Zillertal is a safe bet. You are more likely to be guaranteed snow thanks to the possibility of skiing on the Hintertux glacier, located at 3,200m. Also, once you buy a Zillertaller Superskipass you can go skiing in all the resorts in the Zillertal valley. The pass also includes free use of all the local buses that connect the towns located at the foot of the slopes. These buses link you with the lifts to access the slopes of Zillertal.
