Pro tips to help you make a pick

Check live webcams or weather forecasts before your visit to ensure clear views; clouds and rain can limit visibility dramatically.

If you’re sensitive to altitude changes, chew gum or swallow during the elevator ride to help with ear popping.

Use the Taipei Metro for the most convenient and predictable access, especially during city rush hours.

Outdoor deck access (Skyline 460) is weather-dependent and may close suddenly; review cancellation or rescheduling policies if booking this option.

The observatory is wheelchair accessible indoors, but outdoor deck access may have restrictions; check in advance if you have mobility needs.

About Taipei 101 Observatory

Taipei 101 Observatory is a highlight of any Taipei city collection, offering visitors a chance to see the city’s landmarks, mountains, and vibrant neighborhoods from above. As a flagship observation deck, it’s the perfect addition to your itinerary for those seeking iconic views and a deeper appreciation of Taipei’s modern spirit.

Did you know?

Taipei 101 was once the world’s tallest building at 508 meters and remains one of the most earthquake-resistant skyscrapers globally.

The tower’s design mimics a bamboo stalk with eight sections, symbolizing growth and prosperity in Chinese culture.

The high-speed elevators reach speeds of up to 60 km/h, taking visitors from the 5th to the 89th floor in about 37 seconds.

The observatory’s tuned mass damper weighs approximately 660 metric tons and can move up to 1.5 meters to stabilize the building.

On clear days, visitors can spot landmarks like Elephant Mountain, Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, and even distant mountain ranges from the decks.

Why visit Taipei 101 Observatory?

Sweeping views of Taipei

Take in 360° views of Taipei, its skyline, and the surrounding mountains from both indoor and outdoor decks, Taipei’s ultimate viewpoint.

Ride one of the world’s fastest elevators

Experience the thrill of ascending to the 89th floor in just 37 seconds, watching your altitude climb on digital displays as your ears pop with the rapid rise.

See the giant tuned Mass Damper in action

Get up close to the 660-ton golden damper, a giant engineering sphere that keeps Taipei 101 stable during typhoons and earthquakes, an awe-inspiring sight for all ages.

Sunset and night time magic

Witness Taipei transform from golden-hour glow to a sparkling sea of city lights; sunset is a favorite time for unforgettable photos and memories.

Complete Taipei experience

Pair your observatory visit with shopping, dining, and attractions in the vibrant Xinyi district, all just a short walk or metro ride away.

Plan your visit

Main mall entrance (Ground level)

Located at the base of Taipei 101, facing the Xinyi shopping district, this is the primary entrance for visitors arriving on foot, by taxi, or by bus. The entrance is step-free and fully accessible, with elevators and escalators inside the mall leading up to the 5th floor observatory entrance. Expect minimal wait times except during peak hours.

MRT-linked mall access

Directly connected to Taipei 101/World Trade Center MRT Station (Red Line), this entrance allows visitors to enter the mall via underground or ground-level walkways. The route is step-free and accessible, with clear signage and elevators/escalators to reach the 5th floor observatory entrance. Ideal for metro users and those seeking a seamless, weather-protected arrival.

5F bservatory entrance

Located inside Taipei 101 Mall on the 5th floor, this is the only access point to the observatory itself. Here, visitors scan tickets or exchange vouchers, pass through security, and queue for the high-speed elevator. The entrance is accessible by elevator from all lower floors, and staff are available to assist guests with mobility needs.

Taipei 101 observatory delivers stunning views of Taipei and its surrounding landscapes. Ticketing and marshaling processes are clear, organized and efficient. Staff are very welcoming and helpful. Displays on the 89th and 101st floors offer fun, whimsical and floral backgrounds to what could be plain walls and empty space - yet they do not distract from the scenic views. The cafe and gift shop are offer a nice variety drinks, treats and keepsakes to enhance the experience. Handicap accessible spaces. A must see and experience, especially on clear days and nights to see the lights of the building and city!! Great value for the experience!!

We received the tickets within 15 minutes of the booking. We still had to stand in the line to receive the printed tickets and get on the elevator. The views are impressive. They have several places to take nice pictures. The cafes looked nice ok..we did not buy any food. The 101 floor experience was very nice. Beautiful orchids. We enjoyed our time.

89th floor was great. Upper "garden" floor probably not worth the extra cost. We thought it would be unique (open air) but it wasn't. And the view was essentially the same.

I now understand the magic of ceramics. The quality of the artifacts is world class. For this museum alone a stay in Taipei is essential. Disables access is available and easily found. A great ice cream shop is in the start of the ramps and the museum restaurant on 4 th floor had great food great views and great staff. 4 1/2 hours went quickly. Having a prepaid ticket meant no line ups

The building itself is stunning, but the real magic is inside—everyone mentioned the cabbage but the paintings completely drew me in. I don’t know why, but the pig sculpture was so simple yet oddly charming. Not overwhelming, just quietly impressive. Definitely worth the visit.

We visited Taipei 101 Observatory and booked the 89th floor fast-track tickets through Headout. The fast-pass ended up being worth it. The lines were long going up the elevator, but especially coming back down, so skipping them saved us a lot of time. At the top, there are quite a few photo spots, including some more set-up areas if you want pictures. We loved the views overlooking Taipei and the damper and short videos explaining how it all works were super interesting. If you’re planning to visit, the fast-pass is worth considering if you want to avoid spending a lot of time in line. We're super happy we went!
