Although it was a lot of walking we did see some amazing things and we took a live guide as a last minute upgrade. The form of an encased woman who died during the volcanic eruption. I think in our case an audio guide would have been better as we could take our own pace.

The tour of Herculaneum was brilliant and the guide, Danilo, was very knowledgeable. My only gripe may have been my own fault. I followed the directions in the email, thinking that was to the meeting point, wrong, it was to the backdoor of the Archeology Unit. On re-reading the email I found a second set of directions to the meeting point. My wife was not impressed with my navigating.

The tour itself was incredible and the guide was wonderful! The entrance personnel seemed very upset that we were there and mentioned that they hate Americans, that was upsetting because we were very happy and friendly. But, we had to let that go and just enjoy the day! The narrow passages were longer than I thought, but it was worth it to see the beautiful underground rooms. It was unforgettable and very informative.
