The Story
One of America's most acclaimed musicals, Fiddler On The Roof is a story about a family based in Ukraine, which is on the brink of the Russian Revolution. It revolves around Tevye, his wife, and 5 daughters. While tradition binds one generation in harmony, his daughters break away from this very tradition, letting it pass in their marriages. In the midst of this, Golde, Tevye’s wife keeps him grounded. But as troubles brew in this part of the world at this time history, events are turbulent enough to topple a fiddler from the roof. This heartwarming story of loss, family, love, and sorrow ends in an unexpectedly happy manner.

Critics Reviews
Combining an ebullient score by Jerry Bock and sentimental lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, it’s sometimes knocked for being kitsch. But in Trevor Nunn’s polished revival, which boasts a cast of nearly thirty and an excellent eight-piece band, it’s at once a feast of dance, a bouncy comedy and a defiant portrait of Jewish resilience.

Staging any show here can be problematic because of the tight space, but this is the genius of how theatre can be reimagined.
