Rock of Ages is one of the longest running shows in Broadway, and this latest production is to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the original production. The show had racked up five Tony nominations and is known for its fantastic use of legendary Classic Rock songs woven through an engaging storyline.
The show is directed by Kristin Hanggi who is known for her other work Bare: A Pop Opera and Corpus Christi. The show's actors imbibe the raw and energetic vibes of the 80s and rock the stage with their enthusiasm. The cast includes CJ Eldred, Kirsten Scott, Mitchell Jarvis, PJ Griffith and Matt Ban as lead roles.
The highlight of the musical is its music which includes iconic songs from famous rock bands of the 80s like Styx, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, and Poison. The Story
Rock of Ages The Musical is a layered story that tackles multiple characters, each on their quest to achieve something great. The story is set in Los Angeles on The Strip and is centered around a bar named 'Bourbon Room.'
Lonny and Drew are two wide-eyed assistants here, but Drew has dreams that go beyond the Bourbon Room. He has hopes of becoming a rock star. Drew also runs into Sherrie Christian, a naive young runaway who has left home to make herself a career in acting but ends up a waitress.
Development is knocking on the doors of The Strip and German father-son duo Hertz Klinemann and Franz want to tear down the Bourbon Room. Regina, the city planner, opposes this and starts protests to stop them. She also learns that Franz has nothing to do with it but instead wants to open a confectionery shop in Germany.
Meanwhile, Drew auditions for the band Arsenal and goes on a date with Sherrie but is unable to express his love for her. Enter Stacee, the arrogant lead of the band Arsenal who decides to lure Sherrie away and ultimately leaves her.
After a series of twists and turns, Drew ends up a pizza delivery boy, Sherrie an exotic dancer and Bourbon Room is still in danger. Watch Rock of Ages the Musical to find out what happens to everyone and if the Bourbon Room gets saved!
