Since there were no existing tools and machinery to build such a massive brick dome, he had to design his own. To date, it remains the largest brick dome in the world, astounding architects and historians everywhere.

The Dome and Bell Tower are not accessible by wheelchair and not recommended for guests with mobility issues, back problems, or heart conditions.

Giotto's Bell Tower is closed for maintenance work from 17 to 21 February, 2025.

These tickets are valid for 3 consecutive days from the date of visit. However, Dome access is timed and must be visited on the date and time selected during checkout.

Check your calendars before booking! The Opera del Duomo Museum is closed on the first Tuesday of each month.

Please note that the Baptistery's vault mosaics are currently under restoration and are not visible. The Baptistery closes at 2pm every first Sunday of the month.

The doors to the Cathedral close at 3:45pm and remain closed on Sundays and religious holidays. Plan your visit accordingly.

While entry to Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral is free, you require tickets to access the Crypt of Santa Reparata, Opera del Duomo Museum, St. John's Baptistery, Giotto's Bell Tower, and Brunelleschi's Dome.
