If you are searching for a little thrill and adventure, this hike is the perfect fit for you. Experience the charm of alpine forests, tussock fields, a short helicopter ride and some lovely, panoramic views all at once. The tour provides an insight into the nature and human heritage of Fiordland, photo stops aplenty, and opportunities for bird watching.

The tour commences after your hotel pick-up Te Anau. First up is a scenic helicopter ride where you can soar over Lake Te Anau, a native beech forest and land in the alpine area of Luxmore Hut. Proceed on foot to discover the alpine tussock fields and the natural beauty surrounding Fiordland mountains. Descend through beech forests and towering limestone bluffs to reach the beach of Brod Bay, where you will be picked up by a water taxi to take you back to Te Anau.

Important Information

If conditions allow, there is a possibility of ascending to the summit of Mount Luxmore, adding 1-3 hours of walking up (400 m) and down.
On occasion, the alpine weather may make conditions more challenging.
The tour is not recommended for children under the age of 8.
It is recommended to bring along comfortable walking boots/shoes, a waterproof jacket, warm clothing including a thermal hat and gloves, sun hat, lunch, water bottle, and a day pack. - Walking poles are optional and can be provided by the tour operator.
