With so much art, history, and architecture surrounding Florence, seeing it all can be a challenge. With this tour, you'll get to cover the best parts of Florence in a single day with an expert, English-speaking guide to lead you around. On this half-day Florence tour, enjoy a walking tour of the historical center. See the famous Ponte Vecchio bridge where vibrant jewelry stores line the cobbled street. Visit the leather market and rub the nose of Il Porcellino for good luck. Follow your expert guide around Piazza Signoria, listen to the stories behind the beautiful sculptures and see the place where Michelangelo’s ‘David’ once stood.
You'll also get to visit the crown jewel of Florence, Il Duomo, from the outside. Famous for its huge red dome (visible from all over the city), Florence Cathedral is truly a sight to behold. Your guide will tell you about Brunelleschi’s feat in creating such a marvel and the challenges he faced along the way. The entrance to the Duomo is free and you can visit independently if you wish, as the guide provides you with a full explanation of its inside and outside features.
The last stop is the Accademia Gallery, one of Florence’s many show-stoppers. Skip the long lines here with a pre-reserved entry time and prepare to be amazed. Located in a bright open space beneath a roof that had to be raised to accommodate him, is Michelangelo’s great sculptural masterpiece, ‘David’. Before you enter, admire the sculpture from every angle, and learn about the techniques that Michelangelo used to make marble look as soft as butter. Your guide will also tell you about the unfinished ‘Slaves’. Gathering all the insightful commentaries from your guide, you are ready to visit the Accademia at your own pace.
