Brace Yourself For A Poignant Experience At Auschwitz I
Begin your full-day tour of Auschwitz by taking a complimentary ride in a minivan or private car from anywhere in Warsaw to the village of Oswiecim, the site of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum. It was the largest concentration camp operated by the Nazis during World War II. Upon your arrival, the sign that reads, "Arbeit Macht Frei" at the gate will greet you which ironically translates to “Work sets you free”. Enjoy fast-track entry with this ticket and enter Auschwitz-I, which functioned as the main camp. Visit its various sections, including the barracks while being accompanied by an English-speaking tour guide. Get a painful glimpse into the hardships encountered by the camp prisoners on a daily basis. Since this is a small group tour, enjoy the opportunity to freely interact with your guide and also ask any pertaining questions you may have.
End Your Tour At The Auschwitz II-Birkenau Camp
For the next part of the tour, follow your guide to the Auschwitz II-Birkenau Camp, located 3 km (or 2 miles) away from the main camp. This site was the main extermination camp as 90% of the overall exterminations at Auschwitz took place there. The four gas chambers and multiple crematoriums can be an overwhelming sight for most visitors. Take a moment if you need to or take a solemn walk among the barracks, watchtowers, and railway tracks; all of which act as a painful reminder of the industrial scale of this tragedy. Lastly, this tour also includes complimentary lunch at a nearby restaurant, where you can savour some local delicacies. This trip draws to a close after you’re driven back to your starting point in Warsaw.
